As head coach, I have primary responsibility for National and National Feeder Squads, with oversight and support planning for other squads, groups and staff. I am motivated by the desire to assist all swimmers in the club in achieving their best, up to and including the highest international level, while ensuring they have the opportunity to develop as people with access and support in a variety of activities across the swimming and sporting world while continuing be involved in swimming as a lifetime pursuit.

Gold Coach

Every swimmer has their own journey and my job is to guide and nurture them towards their personal goals, whether it be to learn to swim, swim for fitness or competing at the highest level. Being a swim coach with DCA is more than just a job to me, it's a passion and a commitment to helping swimmers achieve their dreams/goals and having the opportunity to watch them achieve something they once thought was impossible. To be a part of the swimmers journey is a privilege and its not just about winning races; its about teaching life skills like perseverance, focus, developing, how to handle challenges: good or bad and most importantly its about being part of a team.

Gold Coach

A former swimmer, at firstly Forfar, then Arbroath St Thomas, competing at district and national events. I took a short break from swimming, then back coaching after Covid at Forfar. Ross works as an occupational therapist in the NHS.

I am really looking forward to getting started at DCA. This is an exciting opportunity and one that I couldn't pass up. I hope to be able to make a positive impact to push both the swimmers and club forward”.

Coach Arlene Phillips

Silver Coach

I have been coaching with DCA for close to 10 years. I started as a volunteer coach when my oldest son joined bronze squad. I had previously helped with Forfar Falcons after hanging up my goggles as a swimmer! DCA put me through my coaching qualifications and I eventually became the lead coach for gold squad in 2019, before moving to Silver coach in 2022. I handed over the reins for silver and silver feeder squads in July 2025 and am now continuing to coach all squads as and when required.

Disability Learn to Swim Coach

I coordinate and lead DCA’s disability learn to swim classes which are run in conjunction with Scottish Disability Sport, and take responsibility for the new para-pathway squad.

I am driven by the desire to provide a fully inclusive swimming environment for all children; from teaching children how to simply enjoy, have confidence and be safe in the water to developing swimming skills adapted to all abilities.

Claudia Hall

Assistant Coach

I qualified as L2 coach in 2025 but I have always been a very keen swimmer and diver, despite the very long breaks along the way due to work. I am also a TO for the club and enjoy being part of both the coaching and the technical teams, bringing my knowledge and experience to these very different roles. I hope that my enthusiasm will nurture our swimmers’ passion for and commitment to the sport. When not volunteering for DCA, I work in Higher Education.

Masters Squad Lead Coach

I am the clubs Vice President and lead coach of the masters squad. I started swimming at the age of 8 with Inverleith before moving to Warrender. I stepped away from the sport when I joined the Royal Nave but returned to masters swimming briefly in my 40's. I later found my way back into sport through triathlon, competing at all distances including Ironman, and becoming involved in coaching and event organisation. While I was on the boards of Triathlon Scotland and The British Triathlon Federation, I was fortunate to play key roles in both the Commonwealth Games and European Games. It is a real pleasure to be coaching an enthusiastic group of swimmers in the masters squad and look forward to many more successful years pushing them to be their best.
